Jubilee Insurance, in partnership with the Grand Nairobi Bike Race (GNBR), has officially launched the 2025 edition of the Jubilee Live Free Race, set for Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Nyayo Stadium. The event is expected to attract more than 3,500 cyclists from over 20 nationalities.

Jubilee Insurance will continue as the title sponsor, committing Kes 20 million to this year’s race, bringing its total investment in the event to more than Kes 100 million since 2022 in both cash and in-kind contributions.

Since its inception in 2021, the Jubilee Live Free Race has evolved from a competitive cycling event into a platform promoting physical activity, holistic wellbeing, and environmental conservation. The 2025 edition will also focus on advancing physical mobility for children and enhancing environmental stewardship. According to the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists, between 700 and 800 people in Kenya lose a limb annually, yet only one in four amputees have access to prosthetic limbs.

The event will raise awareness on the rising prevalence of diabetes, which is expected to increase the number of amputations, while supporting initiatives such as planting kitchen gardens, food towers, and fruit trees, as well as restoring water towers in marginalized community schools. These efforts aim to improve food security, promote healthier spaces, and benefit future generations.

Speaking at the launch, Jubilee Insurance Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Caroline Ndungu, said the event has grown in scale, diversity, and impact over the past three years. “This event highlights the power of sport to unite people and drive transformative change in our community. Through this platform, we will keep creating awareness and opportunities that empower individuals to live healthier, fuller lives,” she said.

The race will feature several categories: Main Race (75 km), Black Mamba (45 km), Para Cycling (45 km), Family Fun Ride (15 km), and Kiddie Race. Winners in competitive categories will share Kes 4 million in cash prizes, along with in-kind recognitions.

Grand Nairobi Bike Race Director Desmond Momanyi described the race as a homegrown initiative that has grown into a global event, now attracting participants from over 30 nationalities. He emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with the Kenya Cycling Federation (KCF), Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), and the Nairobi County Government in elevating the sport’s profile and promoting discussions on wellness, inclusivity, and mobility.

“We are grateful for the continued patronage from our participants, partners, and communities, and remain committed to delivering a seamless, safe, and rewarding experience. Together, we are creating lasting impact on the issues that matter most to our communities,” said Momanyi.
