The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the maximum pump prices for Super Petrol and Kerosene by KSh1.00 per litre each, while keeping Diesel prices unchanged for the pricing cycle running from 15th August to 14th September 2025.
In Nairobi, motorists and households will now pay:
- Super Petrol: KSh185.31 per litre
- Diesel: KSh171.58 per litre
- Kerosene: KSh155.58 per litre
Import Cost Trends
EPRA data shows that between June and July 2025, the average landed cost of petroleum products shifted as follows:
- Super Petrol: Fell by 0.73% to US$623.71 per cubic metre.
- Diesel: Rose by 3.08% to US$635.58 per cubic metre.
- Kerosene: Increased by 3.20% to US$628.02 per cubic metre.
The decline in petrol costs has been passed on to consumers, while the rise in diesel and kerosene import costs was partly cushioned through pricing adjustments to maintain market stability.
Regulatory Oversight
EPRA conducts monthly pricing reviews to ensure retail fuel prices reflect actual global cost movements, protect consumers from extreme volatility, and enable suppliers to recover import and distribution costs.
The new prices take effect at midnight on August 15 and will remain in force until September 14, 2025, unless adjusted in the next review.
