Glovo has completed the fifth edition of its Glovo Academy program in Nairobi, equipping local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on its platform with critical digital, operational, and financial skills to enhance business sustainability.
Empowering SMEs in a Digital Economy
The Glovo Academy initiative is designed to help SMEs adapt to shifting consumer preferences and fast-changing technologies. Through workshops and seminars, participants received training in areas such as digital food marketing, operational efficiency, financial planning, and business innovation.
The program also offered networking opportunities, enabling restaurant owners and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, share challenges, and explore collaborative solutions within Nairobi’s dynamic food ecosystem.
Caroline Mutuku, Glovo Kenya’s General Manager, said the Academy is focused on equipping businesses with tools that translate directly into growth.
“Our goal is to help partners optimise daily operations, manage finances effectively, and engage customers digitally, ensuring they remain resilient and competitive in the long term,” she noted.
Practical Skills for Immediate Impact
A central feature of the training was hands-on use of Glovo’s tools, including the Sunmi device for managing orders and tracking deliveries. Participants also learned how to leverage the Glovo platform to expand their customer reach, while receiving guidance on budgeting and strategic decision-making.
For many SMEs, the training has already had tangible results.
“Glovo Academy has changed how we operate day-to-day,” said Faustine Salleh, owner of Kitchen 21 Swahili Delicacies. “We improved delivery efficiency, increased online engagement, and now have a clearer plan for expanding our business.”

Beyond operational improvements, the program emphasized long-term planning, from designing promotions and analyzing customer behavior to adopting data-driven approaches to revenue growth. By combining short-term performance gains with strategic planning, Glovo aims to strengthen the resilience of its restaurant partners and the wider food delivery ecosystem.

With five editions already delivered in Kenya, Glovo Academy continues to demonstrate the company’s role beyond being a delivery platform. The initiative has become a capacity-building hub for SMEs, supporting local entrepreneurship, improving customer experiences, and driving innovation in the country’s food sector.
