Safaricom Partners with Naivas to Expand Access to 5G Home Internet Across Kenya

Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom PLC (Right) awards customer Afurika Juvenal with Naivas shopping vouchers after he purchased a Safaricom 5G router. Assisting in the presentation is Dennis Makori, Senior Commercial Manager at Naivas Supermarket. The award was presented during the 5G partnership launch between Safaricom and Naivas Supermarket held at the Imara Imara Mall in Nairobi.

As part of its commitment to deepening digital inclusion in Kenya, Safaricom PLC has announced a new strategic partnership with Naivas Supermarket, in a move that will see 5G Home Internet devices made available at all Naivas outlets nationwide.

The collaboration comes as Safaricom celebrates its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter century of innovation, connectivity, and transformation across Kenya’s digital landscape. The partnership brings Safaricom’s 5G For Home internet solutions closer to households and small businesses, enabling easier access to fast and reliable broadband through the country’s leading retail chain.

Bringing Internet Closer to Customers

Under the partnership, customers visiting any Naivas branch can now purchase Safaricom 4G and 5G routers, both retailing at KES 2,999, the same price available at Safaricom Retail Shops, authorized dealers, and online via Masoko.co.ke.

“We are proud to partner with Naivas Supermarket to bring our internet connectivity closer to customers,” said Fawzia Ali, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer. “It marks a major milestone in our journey to expanding access to high-speed internet through both traditional and alternative channels.”

The rollout is designed to enhance convenience and accessibility, particularly for customers seeking high-speed home internet in areas where fibre coverage is still expanding.

A Double Celebration: Safaricom at 25, Naivas at 35

The partnership also coincides with Naivas’ 35th anniversary, marking a convergence of two homegrown Kenyan brands that have played key roles in the country’s technological and economic transformation.

Through the collaboration, Safaricom aims to reach more households and businesses by leveraging Naivas’ extensive retail network, which spans dozens of towns and cities nationwide.

As part of the celebration, Safaricom will showcase its 5G Home Internet and Home Fibre solutions in select Naivas stores, offering customers hands-on demonstrations and customer support on-site.

Accelerating Internet Penetration and Inclusion

Earlier this year, Safaricom launched a similar partnership with Quickmart Supermarket, making 4G and 5G internet devices available across all 61 Quickmart outlets. The dual partnerships underscore the telco’s strategy of extending distribution through retail partners to bridge Kenya’s digital divide.

Safaricom has also upgraded its Home Fibre service, increasing speeds on the entry package from 10Mbps to 15Mbps at no additional cost. New customers can now subscribe to the 15Mbps plan for KES 2,999, enhancing affordability and value for home internet users.

These moves are part of Safaricom’s broader push to make fast, affordable, and accessible internet available to millions of Kenyans — particularly as demand for digital services, streaming, remote work, and e-learning continues to rise.

Driving Kenya’s Digital Transformation

With the continued rollout of 5G technology, Safaricom has positioned Kenya as a regional leader in digital innovation, enabling faster connectivity, supporting smart technologies, and enhancing access to government services, financial inclusion, and enterprise digitization.

“This partnership reinforces Safaricom’s commitment to connecting people wherever they are and ensuring that every Kenyan can benefit from the opportunities of the digital economy,” said Ms. Ali.

As Safaricom looks ahead to its next 25 years, the company remains focused on building a digitally connected and inclusive society, where technology is accessible to all, regardless of location or income level.
