Kenya Power has opened applications for its January to March 2026 industrial attachment intake, creating new opportunities for continuing students seeking practical experience in technical and non technical fields. The programme is part of the Government’s broader youth empowerment agenda, which aims to improve employability through structured workplace exposure.
The utility firm said the attachments will run for a maximum of three months across various departments. The intake is open to students pursuing degrees, diplomas and eligible craft certificate programmes in accredited learning institutions. Interested applicants must be available full time for the entire duration of the attachment.
Eligible degree and diploma applicants can apply under both technical and non technical disciplines. For craft certificate level, the opportunities are limited to specific technical programmes which include electrical and electronics engineering power option, mechanical and automotive engineering, building and civil engineering and plumbing.
Kenya Power also clarified that no attachment positions are available for information and communication technology programmes in this cycle. The restriction follows internal capacity reviews that guide how departments take up students each quarter.
To qualify, applicants must have a valid introduction letter from their learning institution and a personal accident insurance cover that remains active for the whole three month period. The insurance requirement is standard for industrial attachments in the energy sector and ensures students are protected throughout the hands on training period.
Kenya Power issued three reference numbers to guide applicants during the online submission process. Undergraduate applicants will use reference number KPI ATTGRAD 26 1, diploma applicants will use KP1 ATTDIP 26 1 and craft certificate applicants in the specified technical programmes will use KP1 ATTCERT 26 1.
Applications must be submitted online through the Kenya Power careers portal under the public information and career opportunities section. The utility firm advised applicants to read the online application manual carefully to avoid errors and ensure complete submissions. Application ends on 2nd Dec 2025. Apply at kplc.co.ke/careers.
Kenya Power reiterated that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification as the attachment recruitment process follows strict merit based evaluation. The company maintains an equal opportunity employer policy that supports diversity and fairness in training and employment opportunities.
Industrial attachments at Kenya Power remain highly competitive due to the company’s large national footprint and its role in the engineering and infrastructure ecosystem. Students who secure placements gain exposure to live field operations, distribution systems, safety protocols, customer service workstreams and administrative functions. For many students, the attachment is a first step toward building networks and gaining the practical skills needed in the job market.
The January to March intake is one of the major quarterly entry points for students, particularly those in engineering and technical programmes who depend on industrial exposure to graduate. The announcement is expected to attract thousands of applications from institutions across the country.
Kenya Power said it remains committed to supporting youth development through structured training, mentorship and capacity building. The utility continues to partner with academic institutions to align industry requirements with training curricula and ensure graduates are better prepared for the workplace.
