Kakuzi Plc has secured four nominations in the 2025 Kenya Avocado Excellence Awards, highlighting its role as a leading player in Kenya’s growing avocado sector. The awards recognise outstanding contributions across the avocado value chain and will take place on 5 December 2025 in Nairobi.
The listed agribusiness and superfoods producer has been nominated in categories that showcase its diversified operations and vertically integrated model. The categories include Large-scale Orchards for estates covering more than 100 acres, Nursery and Seedlings Growers, Large-scale Exporter for over 200 containers, and Auxiliary Services for packhouse operations.
Kakuzi Managing Director, Chris Flowers, said the recognition reflects the dedication of employees in both field production and post-harvest handling. He noted that Kakuzi continues to support market expansion and quality standards through strong agronomy practices.
Flowers also highlighted the company’s collaboration with smallholder farmers through technical guidance and training that supports crop quality and international market compliance.
The nominations come ahead of the launch of Kakuzi’s 2024 sustainability report which will outline Environmental, Social and Governance performance and ongoing commitments within local communities.
Kakuzi has 963 hectares under certified avocado cultivation and operates one of the largest outgrower programmes in the country. The company also offers free fruit maturity testing services to farmers to support Kenya’s reputation for premium avocado quality.
The Avocado Society of Kenya will honour organisations and individuals promoting sustainability, innovation, crop productivity and regulatory compliance as the industry continues its growth in local and international markets.
