Safaricom has entered into a partnership with Vivo Energy Kenya to offer cab drivers new fuel discounts under the recently launched Bundle Ya Dere proposition. The offer will be available every Saturday at all Shell service stations across the country to support drivers with reduced operating costs and continued access to essential digital tools.
Bundle Ya Dere gives taxi drivers access to mobile connectivity, free usage of key ride-hailing apps including Uber, Bolt, Little, Faras and Yego, Google Maps, insurance benefits and communication bundles. The new deal adds fuel savings to the list of benefits. Drivers will receive a discount of two shillings per litre of Shell fuels when they fuel up on Saturdays.
Safaricom says the initiative is designed to increase affordability for drivers while supporting the mobility sector. Speaking on the partnership, Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali Kimathi said the goal is to provide convenience, connectivity and savings to help drivers operate more efficiently.
She noted that the collaboration will subsidize daily operational costs and encourage drivers to take full advantage of the offer. Safaricom is also expanding social empowerment programs including Safire Connect forums to offer driver communities financial education, entrepreneurship support and digital skills development.
The proposition additionally offers subsidized insurance plans to cover accidents, illness or loss of income along with road safety training to enhance welfare and security for both drivers and riders.
Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi said the initiative strengthens everyday value for motorists and enhances the experience at Shell service stations nationwide. The company, which operates a network of more than 340 Shell outlets in Kenya, continues to invest in customer rewards as part of its service strategy.
The announcement forms part of Safaricom’s ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations. Drivers registered on Bundle Ya Dere can enroll by dialing 5446# while boda boda riders can access Ofa Ya Boda through *544*8#.
