Junior School administrators and parents are required to complete pathway and school selections for Grade 9 learners on the national placement system. The process takes place on the official platform and requires correct login credentials provided to schools.
1. Accessing the System
Open a web browser preferably Google Chrome.
Type selection.education.go.ke in the address bar and press Enter to open the platform.
2. Logging into the Platform
Desktop users should click Login on the top right of the landing page.
On a mobile device or tablet, tap the menu icon at the top right and select Login.
Use the following credentials:
• Junior School KNEC Code
• Password provided by the SCDE
• Verification Code displayed on the screen
Click Sign In.
3. Junior School Dashboard
After login, locate Pathway Selection.
On desktop it is on the left sidebar.
On mobile tap the menu icon on the top left and select Pathway Selection.
4. Grade 9 Learners List
A list of registered KJSEA learners will display with color indicators:
• Grey: No action taken
• Orange: Profile partially updated
• Green: Profile complete
Select each learner to begin updates.
5. Updating Learner Information
Provide the following details:
• Special Need Type or select None
• Attendance tick for learner, parent or guardian and teacher
• Parent or Guardian contact information
• Home County and Sub County plus County and Sub County of residence
• Optional comment section for extra notes
Submit and confirm the update.
6. Pathway Selection
Choose one pathway for each learner:
• STEM
• Social Sciences
• Arts and Sports Science
Confirm to continue.
7. Subject Combination Selection
Choose three subject combinations that suit the learner. These determine which senior schools can be selected later. Submit the choices.
To make selection easier, adjust Show Per Page to 100 before searching combinations.
8. Submission Confirmation
A confirmation screen will show the successful submission.
Click Proceed to School Selection.
9. School Selection
For each subject combination choose four schools:
• One school from each of the four clusters
This equals a total of twelve schools for every learner:
4 schools per combination multiplied by 3 combinations.
10. Completed Learner Profile
When the final school choice is submitted the profile becomes complete automatically. The completed form may be reviewed and downloaded for school records.
