Five Arrested in Mulot Crackdown on Mobile Banking Fraud

Mulot Suspects

Detectives have arrested five suspects linked to a mobile banking fraud scheme during a targeted operation in Mulot market, in a continuing crackdown on digital crime.

Those arrested have been identified as Daniel Njenga Njeri, Salome Chepngeno, Nelson Kipsang Langat, Erick Cheruiyot and Geofrey Cheruiyot. The suspects were taken into custody and are being processed ahead of arraignment.

They are expected to face charges including conspiracy to defraud, engaging in organised crime and the acquisition of proceeds of crime.

The Mulot region has long been under security watch due to recurring mobile money fraud cases targeting unsuspecting Kenyans. Authorities say the latest arrests are part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks exploiting digital financial systems for illegal gain.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the public from cybercrime and ensuring that those involved face the full force of the law.
