NCBA Group has announced a KSh 300,000 sponsorship to support Kenyan Masters swimmers set to compete at the South Africa National Masters Swimming Championship, scheduled to take place in George, South Africa, in March.
The sponsorship will cater for essential needs including team kits and key travel logistics, ensuring the athletes are adequately prepared and equipped for the continental competition.
The partnership was unveiled during a joint training session held on Friday, 30 January 2026, at Crawford International School. During the session, swimmers focused on refining technique, improving endurance, and strengthening team cohesion as final preparations intensify ahead of the championships.
NCBA Group Director for Marketing, Communication and Citizenship, Nelly Wainaina, said the sponsorship aligns with the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility agenda, which prioritises wellness, healthy living, and community development.
“Masters swimming reflects sport as a lifelong pursuit. These athletes continue to challenge themselves, stay active, and inspire younger generations well beyond their competitive youth years. Supporting them is consistent with our commitment to promoting healthier and more resilient communities,” Wainaina said.
Kenya Aquatics Technical Director Omar Omari welcomed the sponsorship, noting that Masters swimming in Kenya has continued to grow steadily due to the dedication of athletes and stakeholders who have kept the sport visible and active.
“We are grateful to NCBA for coming on board at a critical moment in the team’s preparation. Masters swimming represents discipline, consistency, and goal-driven lifestyles, and we encourage more corporate partners to support the sport,” Omari said.
Kenya Masters Team Captain Peter Nduati described the sponsorship as a significant morale boost for the swimmers as they enter the final phase of preparation.
“This support will go a long way in ensuring the team is properly equipped and able to compete with confidence on the continental stage. We also appreciate Kenya Aquatics for its continued backing of the Masters swimming community,” Nduati said.
This marks the second consecutive year NCBA has supported Kenyan Masters swimmers. In 2025, the bank sponsored athletes who represented Kenya at the World Aquatics Masters Swimming Championship in Singapore, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to initiatives that promote wellness and active lifestyles across the country.
