RUBiS Energie has announced the appointment of Olivier Sabrié as the new CEO for East Africa and Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya. Sabrié steps into the role following the departure of Jean-Christian Bergeron, who is returning to Paris for a new assignment.

Leadership Transition at RUBiS Energy Kenya

Jean-Christian Bergeron, who has served as CEO for East Africa and Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya since 2019, has been a key figure in establishing RUBiS’ strong presence in the Kenyan and East African markets. Under his leadership, RUBiS has grown to become one of the top three oil marketing companies in the region. Bergeron spearheaded several strategic initiatives, including the rebranding of fuel stations across East Africa, the launch of Ultratech fuel technology, and the introduction of value-added services like the RUBiS App, RUBiS Card, and Enjoy shops.

Reflecting on his tenure, Bergeron remarked, “This journey has been incredibly fulfilling. Seeing the RUBiS brand become a trusted name in East African households and businesses is a source of immense pride. I am grateful for the support from our dedicated team, our loyal customers, and our partners. Together, we have created a foundation for continued success, and I am confident that Olivier will elevate RUBiS Energy in East Africa to great heights.”

Olivier Sabrié: A Veteran Leader with Global Experience

Olivier Sabrié brings over 30 years of experience in the oil marketing sector to his new role at RUBiS Energy Kenya. His career, which spans several continents, includes his most recent position as Chairman and Managing Director & VP South Asia at Total Energies Marketing India Private Ltd. Sabrié’s journey with Total Energies began in Mozambique, and he has since held leadership roles in various African countries, as well as in France, Pakistan, and India.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Sabrié said, “I am honored to join the RUBiS family and committed to advancing the company’s promise of ‘making your life’s journey better’. Kenya and East Africa are dynamic markets with immense potential for growth and development. I look forward to building on Mr. Bergeron’s impressive legacy and driving RUBiS Energy Kenya’s mission to further enhance the journeys our customers take every day.”

RUBiS Energy Kenya’s Market Presence and Future Outlook

RUBiS Energy Kenya operates nearly 300 fuel stations across the country, offering a range of services including Enjoy convenience stores, the RUBiS Card, RUBiS App, and RUBiS Gas. In 2023, the company strengthened its market position by partnering with Castrol to exclusively distribute Castrol lubricants through its extensive network of service stations, lubricants distributors, and franchise workshops across Kenya.

With Sabrié at the helm, RUBiS Energy Kenya is poised to continue its growth trajectory, leveraging the region’s economic potential and expanding its footprint in East Africa. The company’s strategic focus on customer convenience and innovation is expected to drive further success in the competitive energy market.
