A Brief History of Fariji Sacco

The Sacco was originally founded as Kagwe Catholic Church Development Fund – Kagwe Parish, and its early members contributed as little as Kshs 20 per month. It was registered under the Ministry of Culture and Social Services. Over time, as other denominations joined the initiative, the Sacco rebranded to Kagwe Christians Development Fund Sacco, under the Ministry of Cooperatives.

In 2010, the Sacco underwent another transformation to broaden its membership base and enhance its national appeal, adopting the name Fariji Sacco. Since then, it has drawn members from diverse sectors, reflecting its expanded vision of supporting individuals and groups across Kenya.

Fariji Sacco Membership Requirements

1. Individual Membership

  • Completed membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website).
  • Copy of National ID or Passport.
  • Passport size photograph.
  • Registration fee of Kshs 500.

2. Group Membership

For investment groups or other collective entities, the following is required:

  • Completed group membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website).
  • Copies of National IDs or Passports of authorized signatories.
  • Passport size photographs for authorized signatories.
  • Group minutes resolving to open an account with Fariji Sacco.
  • Group registration certificate.
  • Registration fee of Kshs 500.

3. Joint Membership

For two or more individuals looking to open a joint account, the requirements include:

  • Completed membership application form.
  • Copies of National IDs or Passports for both applicants.
  • Passport size photographs for both applicants.
  • Registration fee of Kshs 500.

4. Corporate Membership

Corporate entities can also join Fariji Sacco. To do so, they must provide:

  • Completed corporate membership application form.
  • Passport size photograph for authorized signatories.
  • Board of Directors’ minutes resolving to open an account with Fariji Sacco.
  • Copy of Articles and Memorandum of Association.
  • Registration certificate.
  • Registration fee of Kshs 500.
