Capital Sacco is one of the largest and most established deposit-taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (Sacco) in Kenya. It was founded in 1972 as a section of the Meru Farmers Co-operative Union Ltd., serving members of affiliated dairy and coffee societies. Over time, Capital Sacco has evolved and expanded its services to a wider range of members, including entrepreneurs, salaried individuals, institutions, youth, and children from all over Kenya.
History and Rebranding
Capital Sacco began as a cooperative movement under the Meru Farmers Co-operative Union, mainly serving agricultural communities. In 2005, it officially split from Meru Farmers Co-operative Union to become its own entity, known as Meru Farmers Sacco. In 2012, the Sacco rebranded to Capital Sacco, opening its doors to a broader customer base and providing financial services to members across the country, transforming into a national Sacco.
With an asset base of over Ksh 4.49 billion, Capital Sacco is considered one of Kenya’s leading deposit-taking Saccos, providing financial solutions that cater to both urban and rural populations.
