Fariji Sacco, a renowned deposit-taking savings and credit cooperative in Kenya, has its roots in a humble initiative started in 1989 by Catholic faithfuls. At the time, many Saccos were formed with members sharing a common bond, often leaving the average Kenyan without a facility to join. Fariji Sacco, formerly known as Kagwe Christians Development Fund Sacco, was created to address this gap, aiming to uplift the economic well-being of the common mwananchi by providing them access to savings and credit facilities.
In 2010, the Sacco underwent rebranding to Fariji Sacco, broadening its scope to attract more members and project a national outlook. The institution now serves a diverse group, including tea, coffee, horticultural, and dairy farmers, as well as business communities, investment groups, pensioners, and salaried persons.
