Nairobi’s popular commuter service, Citi Hoppa, is stepping up its game with a significant investment in its fleet. The company has added 24 brand-new Isuzu NQR buses, dubbed the “G20 Design,” in a bold move to modernize its transportation solutions and celebrate 20 years of service since its founding in 2004.
This KSh175 million upgrade reflects Citi Hoppa’s ongoing commitment to offering top-tier service, prioritizing passenger safety, and ensuring comfortable travel across the city. During a ceremonial flag-off at TMD Ruaka, Citi Hoppa’s Operations Director, Githaiga Weru, shared that these new 33-seater buses will offer one complimentary ride from Kencom Stage in Nairobi CBD to key destinations such as Kawangware, Kenyatta, and Ngumo.
“This fleet expansion is a testament to our pursuit of excellence in safety, comfort, and operational efficiency, supported by our long-standing partnership with Isuzu East Africa,” said Mr. Weru. “We’re dedicated to transforming Nairobi’s transportation landscape, setting the standard for future urban transit in Kenya. Our mission is to deliver a premium city transport network that is accessible to all while leading in value-added services.”
Over the past two decades, Citi Hoppa has reached numerous milestones, each contributing to its growth and enhancing its service offerings. These achievements underscore the company’s continuous innovation and unwavering dedication to serving the Nairobi community.
At the event, Wanjohi Kangangi, Isuzu East Africa’s Director of Sales and Marketing, highlighted the partnership with Citi Hoppa as a shining example of Isuzu’s commitment to being a leader in transport solutions, earning customer loyalty, and championing sustainable business practices. He emphasized that these efforts are rooted in Isuzu’s core values of customer focus, strong relationships, and excellence.
“Sustainability is at the heart of Isuzu EA’s strategy, ensuring we meet customer needs with high-quality products and after-sales services. We are proud to support Citi Hoppa as they celebrate this 20-year milestone and continue building a sustainable business,” Mr. Kangangi noted.
George Wambugu, Managing Director of Thika Motor Dealers (TMD) and Chairman of the Isuzu EA Dealers Council, also underscored the importance of Isuzu’s dealer network in East Africa. He praised the network’s role in achieving the company’s objectives and highlighted Isuzu’s strategic efforts to enhance its footprint across the region with a focus on after-sales service and customer-centricity.
“Today’s fleet expansion demonstrates our commitment to delivering on Isuzu’s promise, enabling us to scale and effectively reach our customers,” Mr. Wambugu concluded.
