The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as the organization seeks a strategic leader to drive its mission and represent the interests of Kenya’s business community. This high-profile role is based at KNCCI’s headquarters in Nairobi and offers a three-year contract, with the possibility of renewal.

Key Role in Shaping Business Strategy

The new CEO will be tasked with providing strategic leadership and guidance across the organization, ensuring that KNCCI’s programs and activities align with its long-term vision. This role includes the responsibility of developing and implementing strategic plans that will propel KNCCI forward, meeting the evolving needs of the business community in Kenya.

Engaging with Stakeholders and Government

The CEO will act as the primary representative of KNCCI in these interactions, negotiating and advocating on behalf of the Kenyan business sector.

The new leader will also be responsible for ensuring that KNCCI complies with all statutory requirements, while fostering a positive corporate image both locally and internationally. Managing resources efficiently and harmonizing activities within the organization to achieve strategic goals are also key priorities.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

KNCCI is looking for a candidate with extensive experience in the business sector. The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Economics or a related field, with a minimum of 15 years of work experience, including at least seven years in a leadership role. Expertise in fundraising, business development, and external partnerships is highly valued, alongside a strong understanding of local, regional, and international trade.

The CEO will need to be an equity-driven leader capable of navigating complex organizational dynamics. Strong advocacy skills, the ability to lead high-performing teams, and a deep understanding of the legislative landscape are essential.
