Membership Categories

Parklands Sports Club offers various membership categories to accommodate different needs and circumstances. Here’s a breakdown of the different types of memberships available:

  1. Full Member
    A Full Member must be 25 years and above and is elected through a ballot by the main committee. The prospective member must be introduced by an existing member.
  2. Nominated Member
    A Nominated Member is the spouse of a Full Member and is nominated by the Full Member. They have access to club facilities but cannot attend or vote at General Meetings. Widows or widowers of deceased Full Members may also be elected as Nominated Members without a ballot.
  3. Overseas Member
    Existing members who are relocating from Kenya to another country may apply for Overseas Membership. Once approved by the Main Committee, these members are entitled to a 50% reduction in quarterly subscriptions.
  4. Junior Member
    Junior Members are children of Full Members aged between 21 and 25. They are required to pay a subscription fee and, upon reaching 25, can upgrade to Full Members by paying an upgrade fee.
  5. Life Member
    Life Members are Full Members who have held their membership for at least 35 years and are aged 70 or above. They are elected by the Main Committee upon recommendation by the Balloting Committee. Life Members pay a one-time fee and are exempt from further subscriptions.
  6. Upcountry Member
    An Upcountry Member is an existing member who relocates to an area 60 kilometers or more from Nairobi’s boundary. These members are entitled to a one-third reduction in their quarterly subscriptions.
  7. Temporary Member
    Temporary Members are elected by the Main Committee and maintain membership by paying monthly entrance fees.
  8. Honorary Life Member
    Honorary Life Members are Full Members who have served for at least 15 years and are recognized for their outstanding service to the club. They are elected unanimously by the Main Committee and are exempt from subscriptions.
  9. Reciprocating Member
    Reciprocating Members belong to clubs that have a reciprocating agreement with Parklands Sports Club, giving them access to the club’s facilities.

Membership Requirements

To become a member of Parklands Sports Club, a candidate must be proposed and seconded by two Full Members. The candidate is then required to:

  • Fill out an application form, which is available at the club.
  • Submit the application alongside a detailed CV.
  • Provide copies of their Passport/National Identity Card and professional academic certificates.

The Balloting Committee reviews all applications, and those who meet the club’s entry requirements are admitted based on available vacancies. Admission operates on a first-come, first-admitted basis.

Children of members must apply for Junior Membership upon turning 21 and can transition to Full Membership at the age of 25.
