KCB Women’s Tennis Triumphs Over Equity in Thrilling Interbank Tournament Showdown

The KCB Women’s Lawn Tennis team delivered a stunning performance, overcoming their long-time rivals Equity Bank to claim the top prize at the 2024 Kenya Institute of Bankers (KIB) interbank tournament. In a hard-fought final, KCB triumphed with a 2-1 win, solidifying their dominance in the competition held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS).

Despite the intense competition, KCB’s Charlotte Naswa expressed immense pride after their victory. “It is a proud moment for us after an invigorating experience during this year’s competition. Compared to last year, teams are stepping up and the competition gets tougher. My teammate Diana and I have great chemistry together, and we’ve been intentional with our approach to matches, which is why we won today. I’m already looking forward to next year.”

KCB Men’s Tennis Falls Short Against Central Bank

Meanwhile, in the men’s lawn tennis final, KCB’s team put up a valiant fight but narrowly missed out on the top spot, losing 1-2 to a spirited Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) team. Despite the loss, the KCB men’s side showcased impressive skill and determination, finishing runners-up in a closely contested match.

KCB Netball Team Dominates the Court

KCB’s netball team also made headlines with a series of commanding victories. The team outclassed Bank of Baroda 14-7, overpowered CBK 16-6, and demolished NCBA 32-0. They continued their dominance by cruising past Cooperative Bank 20-5 and outshining ABSA 15-9. In an electrifying semi-final, KCB overwhelmed CA with a crushing 30-1 win, setting up a highly anticipated final clash against Equity Bank later this afternoon.

In the much-anticipated tug-of-war event, KCB once again proved their strength, defeating Equity Bank 2-0 in a gripping semi-final match. The KCB team will now face their yet-to-be-determined opponents in the final, where they hope to secure another victory and add to their tournament success.

KCB’s volleyball teams are also making waves in the competition. The women’s team is set to take on Cooperative Bank tomorrow at KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, while their male counterparts are scheduled to face Cooperative Bank at KSMS on the same day.
