Tai Sacco Membership Requirements

1. Individual Membership
For individuals looking to join Tai Sacco, the following are the requirements:
- Complete the membership application form (available for download on Tai Sacco’s website).
- Provide a copy of your Kenyan National ID or a valid Kenyan passport.
- Submit a coloured passport-size photograph.
- Provide a copy of your KRA PIN (Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number).
- Pay a registration fee of Ksh 500.
- Pay a share capital of Ksh 1,000.
2. Joint Membership
Tai Sacco also allows joint memberships, which are popular for partners or spouses who wish to hold shared accounts. The requirements for joint membership are:
- Complete the joint membership application form (available for download from the Sacco’s website).
- Provide copies of Kenyan National ID or valid Kenyan passports for both applicants.
- Submit coloured passport-size photographs for both applicants.
- Provide a copy of your KRA PIN.
- Pay a registration fee of Ksh 500.
- Pay share capital of Ksh 1,000.
3. Group Membership
Group memberships are open to organizations, including corporates, chamas (investment groups), and self-help groups. The requirements for group membership are as follows:
- Complete the group membership application form.
- Provide minutes of the group’s meeting where the resolution to join Tai Sacco was made.
- Submit a copy of the group’s constitution.
- Provide copies of IDs, passports, or photos of the group’s authorized signatories.
- Submit a copy of the group’s registration certificate.
- Provide a KRA PIN number (if applicable).
- Pay a registration fee of Ksh 500.
- Pay a share capital of Ksh 1,000.
Important Notes for New Members
Upon successfully completing the membership registration process, new members are required to open the following three mandatory accounts:
- Savings Account: To facilitate regular savings deposits.
- Share Capital Account: This account holds the member’s share contributions.
- Non-withdrawable Savings Account: This is also known as the multiplier account, used to determine loan limits and is not accessible for withdrawals.
