In a bold move to protect Kenyan jobseekers, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has issued an urgent advisory regarding the operations of First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Limited. According to the ministry’s notice, the agency is NOT registered with the National Employment Authority (NEA) and is therefore unauthorized to conduct any recruitment activities, whether locally or for foreign labor markets.
The notice comes amid growing concerns from jobseekers and members of the public who have questioned the registration status and recruitment activities of First Choice Recruitment. Dr. Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, has urged Kenyans to exercise due diligence before engaging with any recruitment agency. He emphasized that First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Limited is not permitted to operate in any capacity in Kenya’s job placement sector, making it essential for the public to steer clear of the agency.
In addition to this, the Ministry has released a second warning listing 26 other agencies that have also been found operating unlawfully. These agencies, which are similarly unregistered with the NEA, are unauthorized to conduct any recruitment activities for local or foreign labor markets.

The Ministry’s advisory underscores the risks posed by engaging with these unregistered agencies, which could expose jobseekers to fraudulent activities, financial loss, or even employment scams. To assist the public in verifying the legitimacy of recruitment agencies, the Ministry has provided an online portal where the registration status of any agency can be checked.
Dr. Mutua advised jobseekers to be vigilant and to use the NEA’s official online portal for verification, reiterating the importance of due diligence when engaging with recruitment firms to avoid falling victim to illegal or exploitative practices.
Kenyans can visit the NEA website at https://www.neaims.go.ke/EmploymentAgencyList.aspx to verify the registration status of any recruitment agency before engaging with them. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader commitment to safeguarding Kenyan workers in the local and international job markets.
