KMTC Meru Campus is one of the key training institutions under the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), strategically located in Meru County on the Embu-Maua road. Established in 1979, the campus is adjacent to the Meru County Teaching and Referral Hospital, offering students a hands-on experience in healthcare. Courses Offered at KMTC Meru Campus

KMTC Meru Campus provides a wide range of courses aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge and skills in the healthcare sector. Below is a list of the current courses offered, along with their admission requirements.

1. Certificate in Medical Engineering Technology (CMET)

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C-, C- in English or Kiswahili, D in Mathematics, and D- in Physics/Physical Sciences. D in any one of the following: Chemistry, Biology/Biological Sciences, Electricity, Metal Work, Technical Drawing.
  • Duration: 2 years

2. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in any one of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, or Mathematics.
  • Duration: 3 years

3. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences and C- in any one of the following: Mathematics or Physics.
  • Duration: 3 years

4. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, Biology/Biological Sciences, and Chemistry/Physical Sciences. C in any one of the following: Physics, Physical Sciences, or Mathematics.
  • Duration: 3 years

5. Upgrading Diploma in Community Health Nursing (Distance Learning)

  • Requirements: Certificate in Community Health Nursing (KECN). Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya and have at least two years of post-graduation work experience.
  • Duration: 2 years

6. Diploma in Community Oral Health

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in any two of the following: Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
  • Duration: 3 years

7. Diploma in Pharmacy

  • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, Chemistry/Physical Science, and Biology/Biological Sciences. C in any one of the following: Physics/Physical Sciences or Mathematics.
  • Duration: 3 years
