Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Murang’a Campus is located in the heart of Murang’a town, just 1 km from the town centre, along Mortuary Road. Established in the 1950s, the campus has a rich history of healthcare training. Initially, it served as a training centre for enrolled midwives during colonial times, but today it has grown to offer a wide variety of health-related courses aimed at equipping students with the skills needed to excel in Kenya’s healthcare sector.

Courses Offered at KMTC Murang’a Campus

KMTC Murang’a offers both diploma and certificate programs, as well as upgrading courses, ensuring that students can pursue a wide range of healthcare professions. Below is a list of the courses available at the campus:

  1. Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology
    • Requirements: Mean Grade C-, C- in English or Kiswahili, and D in Biology/Biological Sciences. D- in Mathematics and D+ in any of the following: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Computer Studies, Agriculture, Home Science, Economics, Geography, Commerce, or Business Studies.
    • Duration: 2 years.
  2. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
    • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and C in Biology/Biological Sciences, C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences, and C- in either Mathematics or Physics/Physical Sciences.
    • Duration: 3 years.
  3. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing
    • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in Chemistry/Physics/Physical Science or Mathematics.
    • Duration: 3 years.
  4. Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing (Mental Health and Psychiatry)
    • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in either Chemistry/Physics/Physical Science or Mathematics.
    • Duration: 3 years.
  5. Diploma in Community Health Nursing (Distance Learning)
    • Requirements: Certificate in Community Health Nursing (KECN) and registration by the Nursing Council of Kenya, with 2 years post-graduation experience.
    • Duration: 2 years.
  6. Diploma in Pharmacy
    • Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, Chemistry/Physical Science, and Biology/Biological Sciences. C in either Physics/Physical Sciences or Mathematics.
    • Duration: 3 years.
  7. Upgrading Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology
    • Requirements: Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology.
    • Duration: 2 years.

Students are advised to make deposits at any National Bank branch countrywide, as direct cash payments are not accepted on campus. Meals and accommodation fees are to be paid directly to the college, and the bank account details for these charges will be provided upon admission.
