Wote Technical Training Institute

Wote Technical Training Institute (Wote TTI) has established itself as a leading institution in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Kenya. Located along Wote-Makindu Road, 3 kilometers from Wote town in Makueni County, the institute began in 1990 as a skills training center, under the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) program. In 2013, with the introduction of the TVET Act, Wote TTI was officially registered under the act and has since grown into a center of excellence, offering various diploma, certificate, artisan, and short courses aimed at building the nation’s technical workforce.

Governance and Management

The institution is governed by a Board of Governors appointed by the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Education. Course Requirements

  • Diploma Courses: A minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) is required. Alternatively, applicants can qualify with a relevant certificate course. Admission is also possible through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
  • Certificate Courses: A minimum KCSE mean grade of D plain is required. Applications can be made directly through Wote TTI or via KUCCPS.

Fee Structure

Wote TTI provides a highly affordable education structure, particularly for students admitted through KUCCPS, who qualify for government capitation. The fee structure is outlined below:

Total Fees: Ksh 56,420 per year

For KUCCPS-sponsored students, the government provides a capitation of Ksh 30,000 per year. This reduces the total payable fees to Ksh 26,420 annually. Below is a breakdown of the fees:

Additional Fees

  • Application fee: Ksh 500 (non-refundable)
  • Caution fees: Ksh 1,000 (payable once)
  • Student Council fee: Ksh 600 per year
  • KUCCPS fee: Ksh 1,500 (payable once)
  • Practical fees:
    • Ksh 3,000 per term (Hospitality students)
    • Ksh 2,000 per term (Technical courses such as Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, and ICT)
  • Starter-up kit for Hair Dressing & Beauty Therapy: Ksh 2,500
  • Driving lessons (Automotive Engineering students): Ksh 11,500 in the second year
  • Boarding fees: Ksh 6,000 per term
  • Meals: Ksh 12,000 per term

How to Apply

  1. Manual Application:
    • Download and fill out the application form from the Wote TTI website.
    • Submit the form in person or mail it to the Registrar’s office along with the required documents and a deposit slip for the non-refundable Ksh 500 application fee.
  2. KUCCPS Application:
    • Apply via the KUCCPS portal to qualify for government sponsorship. After receiving a placement, students can download their admission letters from the Wote TTI website.
