Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Karuri Campus, located in Karuri Ward, Kiambaa Sub-County in Kiambu County, is approximately 24 kilometers from Nairobi City and accessible via Limuru Road. The campus, originally established in 1963 as a rural training facility offering programs in Nursing, Food Sciences, and Inspection, was officially upgraded to a KMTC campus in 2009.     • Requirements: KCSE Mean Grade C-, C- in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology/Biological Sciences, and D in Mathematics. D in any one of the following: Home Science, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Electricity, or Woodwork.
    • Duration: 2 years

Diploma Programs

  1. Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences
    • Requirements: KCSE Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in Mathematics and any one of the following: Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry.
    • Duration: 3 years
  2. Diploma in Medical Social Work
    • Requirements: KCSE Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, and C- in Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in any one of the following: Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Home Science, Agriculture, Business Studies, Geography, History, CRE, or IRE.
    • Duration: 3 years
  3. Upgrading Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences
    • Requirements: Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences.
    • Duration: 2 years

Clinical Experience and Practical Training

Students pursuing Environmental Health Sciences are placed in various Public Health Departments across counties for clinical rotations. Here, they gain practical knowledge of community health, disease prevention, and environmental safety.
