Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Lugari Campus, situated in Mautuma Sub-County, Lugari Constituency of Kakamega County, was established in 2014 through a community-led initiative with support from the KMTC Board of Directors. The campus became operational in September 2016, enrolling its first group of students and embarking on a journey to provide quality medical training to meet the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in Kenya.
KMTC Lugari Campus operates from two key sites: Mautuma Sub-County Hospital and the former District Commissioner’s Headquarters. 1. Certificate in Health Records and Information
- Requirements: Mean Grade C-; C- in English or Kiswahili, and D in Biology/Biological Sciences. D- in Mathematics and D+ in one of the following: Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, General Science, Computer Studies, Agriculture, Home Science, Economics, Geography, Commerce, or Business Studies.
- Duration: 2 years.
2. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
- Requirements: Mean Grade C; C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences and C- in one of the following: Mathematics, Physics/Physical Sciences.
- Duration: 3 years.
3. Diploma in Health Promotion
- Requirements: Mean Grade C; C- in English or Kiswahili, and D+ in Biology/Biological Sciences. D in one of the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Home Science, Agriculture, Physics, or Physical Sciences.
- Duration: 3 years.
4. Diploma in Community Health Nursing
- Requirements: Mean Grade C; C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in one of the following: Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, or Mathematics.
- Duration: 3 years.
