KMTC Makueni Campus

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Makueni Campus, located in Wote Town, Makueni County, was established in March 2014 with support from both the KMTC Board of Directors and the Makueni County Government. The campus, which is adjacent to Makueni County Teaching and Referral Hospital, was founded to address the growing demand for trained healthcare professionals in the region. It offers a range of healthcare courses designed to produce skilled professionals equipped to meet the health challenges in the area and beyond.

KMTC Makueni Campus offers a total of seven courses, including certificate, diploma, and upgrading diploma programs. These courses are designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community by training students in various medical fields. Here is the list of courses currently offered:

  1. Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics
    • Requirements:
      • KCSE Mean Grade: D+
      • Minimum Grades: D+ in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences, D in Chemistry/Physical Sciences
      • Additional: D in one of the following: Home Science, Agriculture, Mathematics, Physics, General Science
    • Duration: 2 years
  2. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
    • Requirements:
      • KCSE Mean Grade: C (Plain)
      • Minimum Grades: C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/Biological Sciences, C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences
      • Additional: C- in one of the following: Mathematics or Physics/Physical Sciences
    • Duration: 3 years
  3. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)
    • Requirements:
      • KCSE Mean Grade: C (Plain)
      • Minimum Grades: C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/Biological Sciences
      • Additional: C- in one of the following: Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, or Mathematics
    • Duration: 3 years
  4. Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences

  6. Diploma in Medical Engineering

      • Additional: C- in one of the following: Biology/Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Electricity, Metal Work, or Technical Drawing

  7. Upgrading Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
    • Requirements:
      • Holder of a Certificate in Community Nutrition, Nutrition & Dietetics, or Food Science & Nutrition
      • KNEC Certificate in Nutrition & Dietetics for TVET graduates
