Complete Guide for New Meru University Students: How to Pay Fees via eCitizen Platform

Meru University

For new students joining Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), paying educational charges through the eCitizen platform is now the standard procedure. This shift to digital payments ensures a seamless and secure way of handling all government-related transactions, in compliance with a Presidential Directive. To make this process easier for students, this guide will walk you through the step-by-step instructions on how to complete your payment on the eCitizen platform.

Step 1: Access the Meru University Website

Start by visiting the official Meru University of Science and Technology website. Once on the homepage, navigate to the “PROGRAMMES” section, and click “Apply Now.” Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your application.

You will be required to fill in the necessary data in three sections, from Section 1 of 3 to Section 3 of 3. After completing these sections, click “Submit & Finish.”

Step 2: Generate Your Payment Invoice

Once your application is successfully submitted, it’s time to initiate the payment process. Click on the “Make Payment” button to generate your invoice.

The system will create a unique Payment Reference Number, which is essential for making payments. This number replaces the previous Application Number system. Be aware that the invoice will include an additional KSh 50 as a convenience fee, which is charged by eCitizen and not Meru University.

Step 3: Choose Your Preferred Payment Method

Students can make payments using various methods, including:

  • Mpesa
  • Airtel Money
  • Pesaflow Direct
  • Cash at KCB or Equity banks

Additionally, new payment options such as National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and Co-operative Bank are expected to be available soon.

Step 4: Complete the Payment Process

Follow the payment prompts according to the method you choose:

  • For Mpesa: Input the Payment Reference Number generated in Step 2. Complete the transaction following the usual Mpesa process.
  • For Cash Payments (KCB or Equity): Visit the respective bank branch and provide the teller with your Bill Reference Number (Payment Reference Number). The teller will process your payment accordingly.

This guide simplifies the process of paying educational fees at Meru University through the eCitizen platform. By following these steps, students can ensure their payments are processed efficiently. With the growing number of payment methods, students have flexibility in how they can settle their fees, whether through mobile money platforms or traditional banking methods.
