Huawei Kenya has opened registration for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition, in collaboration with leading universities and TVET institutions across the country. The annual event, a key initiative in Huawei’s broader commitment to fostering digital skills, aims to support Kenya’s digital transformation by enhancing the ICT expertise of the nation’s youth.

The Huawei ICT Competition offers students a platform to showcase their knowledge in crucial ICT fields, including networking, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, and cybersecurity. It provides participants with practical experience, training resources, and the chance to network with industry professionals, contributing to the growth of Kenya’s ICT sector.

“As we embark on the journey to create a digitally empowered Kenya, this competition is an integral part of developing the next generation of ICT leaders,” said Michael Kamau, Partnerships and Corporate Affairs Manager at Huawei Kenya. “Through initiatives like the ICT Competition, we are offering students in Kenya a platform to showcase their talent, gain practical skills, and contribute to the country’s digital economy.”

The competition equips participants with access to free learning materials, expert mentorship, and industry-recognized certifications. Top-performing students can win prizes, including potential job offers at Huawei or its partner organizations. Additionally, winners will have the opportunity to represent Kenya in the global finals, competing against the best from other countries.

According to Mr. Kamau, the competition is part of Huawei’s broader effort to integrate practical ICT training into university curricula, further strengthening the collaboration between Huawei and Kenyan academic institutions.
