Jambojet and ELDOWAS Partner to Promote Environmental Sustainability on Mazingira Day

JAMBOJET AND ELDOWAS JOIN FORCES TO DISTRIBUTE SEEDLINGS TO CUSTOMERS IN SOME OF THEIR DESTINATIONS FOR MAZINGIRA DAY

In celebration of Mazingira Day, Jambojet, partnered with Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) to distribute tree seedlings across its network in Kisumu, Eldoret, and Nairobi. The initiative aligns with the two organizations’ shared commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. Tree planting also took place simultaneously in Eldoret and Mombasa, with a special focus on mangrove planting in the coastal city.

Jambojet distributed tree seedlings to customers at airport stations nationwide, providing them free of charge to encourage participation in reforestation efforts and combat climate change. The airline hopes that by engaging customers in tree planting, they can collectively work toward creating a greener and more sustainable future for Kenya.

“We’re delighted to partner with ELDOWAS on this important initiative,” said Karanja Ndegwa, CEO and Managing Director of Jambojet. “As a responsible organization, Jambojet is committed to protecting the environment and supporting sustainable practices, especially in the aviation industry. By providing tree seedlings to our customers, we hope to inspire them to take action and help create a greener future for Kenya, even as we celebrate Customer Service Week.”

ELDOWAS, a major provider of water and sanitation services in Eldoret, echoed Jambojet’s commitment to environmental conservation. “Everyone has a role to play in protecting our planet,” said Peter Kibet, Managing Director at ELDOWAS. “Through our partnership with Jambojet, we can reach a wider audience and encourage more people to participate in reforestation efforts.”

The tree seedlings, which are native to Kenya and well-suited to local climates, aim to help combat climate change, restore forests, protect biodiversity, and improve air quality. By distributing these seedlings, Jambojet and ELDOWAS hope to foster a greater connection between individuals and the environment.

This initiative is part of The Aviation Challenge, which Jambojet is actively participating in. Formerly known as The Sustainable Flight Challenge, this competition challenges the aviation industry to accelerate innovation and implement sustainable solutions across all areas of their operations. The primary goal is to reduce the carbon footprint of SkyTeam members, minimize environmental impact, and generate industry-wide change.

Jambojet’s tree planting initiative not only reflects its environmental stewardship but also highlights the growing importance of climate literacy among passengers, making sustainability a key focus in Kenya’s aviation sector.
