White Cap, Johnnie Walker, and Guinness Shine at AMC Marketing Awards

The African Marketing Confederation (AMC) recently celebrated outstanding marketing talent across the continent during its prestigious awards dinner, held as part of the third annual African Marketing Confederation Conference. The event took place in Mombasa, Kenya, from September 25-27, 2024, and highlighted the excellence and creativity behind some of the best campaigns in Africa.

AMC President, Helen McIntee, commended the high caliber of submissions, stating, “The quality of campaigns shows just how much marketing talent we have in Africa. We are proud of every team behind these exceptional campaigns.”

Some of the standout winners from the evening included:

  1. White Cap Kenya:
    • Gold in the Best Cause-Related Campaign for their Saving the White Caps project. The campaign creatively linked White Cap beer to Mount Kenya, promoting both as symbols of Kenyan heritage. The campaign also earned Bronze in the Brand of the Year category.
  2. TMI Technologies (Uganda):
    • Gold in the Best Social Media Campaign for their MiOne Launch, which introduced smartphones and smart devices in Uganda. The campaign was also awarded Silver in Most Effective Campaign and Brand of the Year.
  3. Johnnie Walker Kenya:
    • Won the Best Use of Local Insights award for their Bart AI campaign, an AI-powered bot mixologist that personalized cocktail recipes for users. The campaign also took Bronze for Brand of the Year.
  4. Zambian Tourism Agency:
    • Secured top honours in the Tourism and Destination Marketing Campaign category for its Destination Zambia campaign, which boosted tourism arrivals and contributed to Zambia’s economic growth.
  5. Stanbic Bank Uganda:
    • Most Effective Campaign award winner for their Stanbic National School Championship, which generated widespread awareness and engagement. Stanbic Bank Uganda also clinched the title of Brand of the Year.
  6. Guinness Kenya:
    • Took home the Campaign of the Year award for their Match Day campaign, which linked Guinness to soccer, engaging Kenya’s current generation. Guinness Kenya also won Bronze for Brand of the Year.

The AMC awards continue to celebrate and recognise the best marketing initiatives across Africa, highlighting the innovation, creativity, and talent driving the industry forward.
