TikTok has recently announced strategic partnerships in Kenya with Aleph Holdings and Wowzi, aiming to bolster the platform’s presence and support the nation’s burgeoning creative and business sectors. This move underscores TikTok’s commitment to fostering local talent and providing businesses with enhanced advertising solutions.

Aleph Holdings will assume responsibility for TikTok’s sales and support operations within Kenya. This collaboration is set to simplify the advertising process for Kenyan businesses by offering direct access to TikTok’s advertising tools and insights. A notable advantage of this partnership is the ability for businesses to transact in local currency, eliminating the need for international payment methods. Stephen Newton, Regional Managing Director for Aleph Holding in Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted, “In Kenya, media buying on social media platforms is usually done by in-house teams using company credit cards. With Aleph partnering with TikTok, businesses can save costs by paying in local currency and gain direct access to TikTok’s insights.”

Wowzi, a leading technology marketplace, has been appointed as TikTok’s creator management partner in Kenya. This partnership aims to elevate local creators by facilitating stronger connections with brands and agencies, thereby expanding opportunities for creative expression and commercial success. Mike Otieno, Co-founder & President of Wowzi, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “There is so much incredible creative talent emerging from Kenya, and TikTok provides a unique platform for these creators to express themselves, connect with the local community, and reach audiences around the globe. Our partnership will open even more doors and provide valuable opportunities for creators to thrive on the platform.”

These partnerships are poised to significantly impact both businesses and creators in Kenya:

  • For Businesses: The collaboration with Aleph Holdings offers Kenyan businesses streamlined access to TikTok’s advertising resources, enabling more effective engagement with target audiences through tailored ad campaigns.
  • For Creators: Wowzi’s role as creator management partner provides local talent with enhanced support, mentorship, and opportunities to collaborate with brands, fostering growth within Kenya’s creative ecosystem.

These initiatives build upon TikTok’s previous efforts to support African creators. In 2021, TikTok launched the #LevelUpAfrica Program, designed to help creators unlock their full potential, refine their TikTok skills, and build powerful personal brands within the creator economy. Hundreds of Kenya-based creators have benefited from tailored mentorship, personalized guidance, and opportunities to elevate their presence on the platform.

Kenyan businesses and creators are encouraged to leverage these new partnerships to maximize their presence on TikTok. By engaging with Aleph Holdings for advertising solutions and collaborating with Wowzi for creator support, stakeholders can harness TikTok’s dynamic platform to achieve their marketing and creative objectives.
