WeLoveU Foundation Promotes Hygiene Education at Mathare North Primary School

In celebration of World Health Day (April 7) and World Hand Hygiene Day (May 5), the International WeLoveU Foundation (Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah) conducted "Clean Hands" hygiene education and donating hygiene supplies(300 bottles of handwash) in Mathare North Primary School in Nairobi These efforts contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

On May 21, 2025, the International WeLoveU Foundation, under the leadership of Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, conducted a hygiene education initiative at Mathare North Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya. This event was part of the foundation’s global “Clean Hands” campaign, aligned with World Health Day (April 7) and World Hand Hygiene Day (May 5), aiming to promote proper hygiene practices and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The session educated approximately 820 students and faculty members on the importance of hand hygiene, effective handwashing techniques, and the role of cleanliness in preventing waterborne diseases. To reinforce these lessons, WeLoveU donated 150 liters of hand sanitizer, sufficient for the school’s use over the next six months.

This visit follows the foundation’s earlier support in March 2025, when it repaired flood-damaged facilities at the school, including repainting 27 classrooms, replacing damaged desks, and providing new textbooks. These efforts have significantly improved the learning environment for the students.

Head Teacher Boniface Matindi expressed gratitude, stating, “We appreciate Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah. This will take us very far. This will make the learners clean themselves and stay away from diseases brought by hygiene so they will be healthy. Thank you so much WeLoveU Foundation.”

Deputy Head Teacher Mwangi Jacinta added, “I want to take this opportunity to thank the chairwoman of WeLoveU Foundation for the good job she has done in this school. We have received so many donations from her. She has done some paintings in our school. Now she has provided handwash which will go a long way in helping our children to keep hygiene high. Thank you so much.”

Beyond Mathare North Primary School, WeLoveU has extended its support to other regions in Kenya, including donations of computers, backpacks, and school supplies to schools in Siaya and Kitui counties. The foundation has also contributed to improving access to clean water by donating water tanks to Tassia Kwa Ndege Hospital and installing a water pump in Olengo Village, Siaya.

As an NGO associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, the International WeLoveU Foundation continues to carry out humanitarian activities worldwide, focusing on environmental conservation, disaster relief, healthcare, and educational support.
