Del Monte Kenya Limited has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, becoming part of a global network of over 23,000 companies and 4,000 non-business participants dedicated to advancing responsible and inclusive business practices.
The announcement was made by Del Monte Kenya’s Managing Director, Wayne Cook, who emphasized the company’s ongoing dedication to sustainable growth:
“We are truly honored to announce our membership in the UN Global Compact. We take pride in the fact that our continuous investment in sustainability across all our operations has not only garnered global recognition but has also yielded positive results. This milestone further strengthens our commitment to sustainability.”
As a leading pineapple producer, marketer, and distributor, Del Monte Kenya has embraced a proactive sustainability agenda that has driven its growth and profitability. The company’s inclusion in the UN Global Compact reinforces its alignment with ten globally accepted principles covering human rights, labor, environmental stewardship, and anti-corruption.
This commitment further underscores Del Monte Kenya’s support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company plans to adopt transparent reporting mechanisms to track and share progress toward its sustainability objectives annually.
Through these actions, Del Monte Kenya aims to expand its social and environmental impact across the country while contributing to global efforts to foster ethical and sustainable business.
“We look forward to learning from the global community and adopting best practices while also inspiring others to embrace responsible business practices,” Cook added. “Together, we can contribute to building a better and brighter future for everyone.”
