Kenya’s leading tech education institution, Moringa School, today celebrated a landmark event — its annual Career Fair and graduation ceremony — held at The Dome ASK, Jamhuri Showground, Nairobi.
The event, themed “TechXpo: Unlocking Opportunities in Modern Tech,” brought together over 50 hiring partners, industry leaders, students, parents, and education stakeholders in a day-long celebration of innovation, job readiness, and the growing role of youth in Africa’s digital transformation.
At the heart of the event was the graduation of 1,478 students, who successfully completed certificate programs in Software Engineering, Data Science, Cyber Security, Data Analysis & Visualization, and Product Design.
“Today’s celebration is more than a milestone for our graduates — it’s a powerful reminder that Africa’s digital transformation will be driven by bold, skilled, and purpose-driven talent,” said George Njuguna, founder of GNK Consulting and board member at Moringa School, who served as Chief Guest.
TechXpo is designed as a career-building ecosystem, aligning with Moringa School’s mission: “To build talent and opportunities through transformative tech-based learning experiences.”
The event offered students, alumni, and high school participants access to:
- Employer booths from fast-growing startups to large tech companies
- Fireside chats, workshops, and masterclasses with industry executives
- Recruiter insights on emerging job markets and skills gaps
- Portfolio and project showcases by graduates
These experiences provided real-time feedback, mentorship, and hiring connections — part of Moringa’s outcomes-based curriculum aimed at equipping learners for the digital workforce.
“Bringing together learners, industry leaders and hiring partners under one roof is more than just an event — it’s a celebration of what’s possible when education meets opportunity,” said Nikki Germany, CEO of Moringa School.
A standout feature of this year’s TechXpo was a youth Hackathon that introduced students from 10 high schools to the basics of coding and real-world tech problem solving. Activities included:
- Block-based coding workshops for beginners
- Interactive programming challenges
- Career talks in software development, data science, and cybersecurity
- Parent briefings on scholarships and digital career pathways
Winners were recognized across several categories:
- Best Team: Light Academy Nairobi, Karima Girls, and Rusinga School Nairobi
- Best Innovation Project: Karima Girls High School
- Best Technical Implementation: Light Academy Nairobi
- Best Problem Solvers: State House Girls High School
These early interventions signal Moringa’s commitment to growing the next generation of tech talent from secondary school level — preparing young minds to thrive in AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, gaming, and more.
Moringa School continues to reinforce its position as Kenya’s premier tech talent accelerator, with a strong focus on job readiness. The institution boasts:
- Over 8,000 graduates trained over the past 10 years
- An 85% employment rate for job-seeking alumni within 12 months of graduation
- A curriculum grounded in practical, real-world projects and current industry needs
Its alumni have gone on to work in tech roles across Africa, Europe, and North America, supporting startups, multinationals, and global consultancies.
With Africa emerging as a new frontier in tech, institutions like Moringa are playing a crucial role in filling the digital skills gap and driving inclusive growth. By connecting learners to employers, industry mentors, and startup ecosystems, the school continues to position Nairobi as a regional innovation hub.
The 2025 TechXpo also reinforces the school’s relevance as a go-to talent pipeline for recruiters, venture-backed startups, and global tech firms looking to scale across East Africa.
As Kenya scales its ambitions in digital transformation, institutions like Moringa School will be instrumental in shaping a tech-savvy workforce, driving local innovation, and ensuring African voices are represented in building the future of global technology.
“We’re proud to create spaces where talent is nurtured, showcased, and launched into impactful careers,” said CEO Nikki Germany.
With its focus on practical learning, early exposure, and strong employer partnerships, Moringa School is setting the gold standard for what tech education in Africa can and should look like.
