The Hub Karen has commemorated its ninth anniversary with a food festival that showcased a wide range of local and international cuisines while coinciding with the opening of new flagship outlets at the shopping complex.
The event featured participation from over 10 food chain operators, offering visitors the chance to sample diverse dishes including African specialties, Japanese sushi, Indian and Mexican cuisines, gourmet coffee, desserts, and popular fast foods. Live cooking demonstrations by professional chefs and family-oriented activities were also part of the celebrations.
The anniversary milestone was led by The Hub Karen General Manager Jacobus Visser, alongside mall staff and select tenants, and included a cake-cutting ceremony and traditional dance performances.
The celebration comes at a time when the mall is expanding its retail portfolio with the launch of key international outlets. These include the opening of Natural Lamu, a handcrafted skincare and fragrance brand founded by Manuel Silvestre, and the unveiling of a new-look African flagship store by Japanese retail chain MINISO.
Opened in May 2016, The Hub Karen has grown into one of Nairobi’s prominent mixed-use retail and leisure destinations. It was also the site of Carrefour’s entry into the Kenyan market the same year, marking the launch of the French retailer’s first local branch.
Currently, the mall hosts more than 95 local and international tenants across sectors such as fitness, healthcare, cosmetics, apparel, sporting goods, and family entertainment. The development also includes The Hub Park and facilities such as a tyre centre, toy stores, and exclusive brand outlets.
