Buyers of LG electronics in Kenya and the wider East African region will now enjoy faster, more convenient, and direct after-sales services following the launch of the LG Best Care Trailer — a 40-foot mobile customer support unit designed to bring technical assistance and product repairs closer to consumers.
Unveiled at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, the LG Best Care Trailer will initially serve households across the capital, with plans to expand to other major towns and neighbouring countries, including Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia.
Bringing Expert Support Closer to Customers
The LG Best Care Trailer aims to revolutionise after-sales services by taking technical support directly to customers’ doorsteps. Fully equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, genuine spare parts, and a team of certified technicians, the trailer will handle a wide range of LG products — from home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and microwaves to electronics like televisions and audio systems.
Customers will benefit from on-site assessments, minor repairs, and expert guidance on product maintenance and usage — all without the need to visit a physical service centre.
“We understand that for many Kenyans, accessing centralized service points can be time-consuming and costly, especially in busy cities like Nairobi. The LG Best Care Trailer brings expert support directly to our customers’ doorsteps, saving them time and ensuring their appliances continue to function efficiently,” said Donghun Lee, President of LG Electronics East Africa.
High Demand Driving LG’s Customer-Centric Approach
The mobile service unit comes at a time when LG’s products are experiencing strong demand across East Africa. In 2024, LG’s OLED TV shipments accounted for 57.5% of the global premium TV market, while combined shipments of both OLED and LCD TVs reached 22.6 million units worldwide, representing 16.1% of total global TV market revenue.
Similar trends are reflected across LG’s other product categories, including laundry appliances, smart refrigerators, and built-in kitchen solutions, where LG remains a preferred brand for mid- to high-end consumers.
The launch of the LG Best Care Trailer directly responds to this growing demand by ensuring that customers have seamless access to quality after-sales care, thereby boosting overall satisfaction and strengthening brand loyalty.
Weekly Service Schedules and Target Locations
The trailer will initially operate within Nairobi, making scheduled stops across high-density suburbs such as Eastlands, South B, and Kasarani, as well as mixed-income areas like Westlands, Kilimani, and Lavington.
Weekly routes and stop locations will be announced via LG East Africa’s social media channels on X, Facebook, and Instagram, ensuring customers are updated on when and where they can access the mobile service unit.
More Than Repairs: A Platform for Community Engagement
Beyond its core after-sales function, the LG Best Care Trailer is multi-purpose. It features:
- A moving LED billboard to showcase product demonstrations and promotions
- A stage with sound and lighting systems for customer events and talent showcases
- A platform for community engagement activities across Nairobi and other East African cities
This innovative approach allows LG to connect directly with customers, not just as a service provider but also as a community partner.
“At LG, customer satisfaction does not end at the point of sale but continues across the lifetime of the products through reliable, responsive after-care. The LG Best Care Trailer reflects this commitment to ensuring that customers attain maximum benefits from their investment,” said Ronald Mitei, Service Director at LG Electronics East Africa.
Addressing a Growing Urban Challenge
According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Nairobi is home to over 4.5 million residents, with nearly 70% relying on public transport. For many households, accessing centralized service centres can be inconvenient and costly.
By decentralising after-sales support, LG is reducing turnaround times while easing the burden for customers in busy cities and towns. The initiative is expected to especially benefit mid- to high-income households that are increasingly investing in premium appliances requiring specialised care.
Setting a New Standard in Electronics After-Sales Services
While mobile service models are already common in Africa’s telecom and banking sectors, LG’s adaptation for the electronics industry sets a new benchmark for customer experience.
Following the Nairobi rollout, the company plans to extend the Best Care Trailer initiative to major towns, including Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru, before expanding into Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia during the next phase of its East African strategy.
