Mseto FC from Dagoretti and Achievers FC from Ongata Rongai emerged as the winners of the second edition of the Nairobi SportPesa Cheza Dimba tournament, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Dandora Stadium.

The two teams triumphed after an action-packed day of grassroots football that showcased some of Nairobi’s finest emerging talent under the SportPesa Tujiamini Initiative, which seeks to empower youth through sport and community development.

Mseto FC Clinch Men’s Title in Tight Final

Mseto FC claimed the men’s title after edging out Victors Faith Church FC from Kasarani 1–0 in a tense and fast-paced final.
The decisive moment came in the 16th minute, when Charles Baraza netted a stunning goal to seal victory for Mseto FC, sparking celebrations among the Dagoretti supporters.

Head Coach Michael Branabe praised his team’s resilience and tactical improvement:

“Last year, we were knocked out in the first round, but this time we came prepared with new attacking tactics that earned us victory. We plan to use the prize money to support our team. I want to thank SportPesa and the Tujiamini initiative for helping players at the grassroots level realize their dreams,” he said.

Achievers FC Triumph in Women’s Category

In the women’s final, Achievers FC from Ongata Rongai lifted the trophy after a thrilling 5–4 penalty shootout victory over UEFA Despanol Queens FC, following a 2–2 draw in regulation time.

The win capped off an inspiring campaign for Achievers FC, who displayed remarkable composure and teamwork under pressure.

Rewards and Mentorship for Winners

The men’s champions, Mseto FC, received a KES 250,000 annual prize and team kits renewable for the next three years, while Achievers FC earned a KES 50,000 one-off prize as winners in the women’s division.

Both teams will also benefit from three years of mentorship under SportPesa’s Tujiamini platform, designed to nurture and empower grassroots sports talent across Kenya.

Player Delvin Kubari of Mseto FC reflected on the journey to victory:

“The opponents were very strong, especially in the group stages. This final was one of the toughest, but we managed to contain the game and get the early goal that made the difference.”

Beyond Football: Celebrating Changemakers

The Nairobi tournament also featured “Bronze Kwa Ground” giveaways, which recognized outstanding individuals and small businesses making a difference in sports, arts, media, and enterprise. The initiative aims to celebrate changemakers who inspire their communities and create lasting social impact.

Deborah Maina, SportPesa’s Public Relations and Advertising Executive, said:
“Cheza Dimba is more than just a football tournament — it’s a platform for supporting talent, inspiring hope, and uplifting communities through the Tujiamini initiative. The passion and skill we saw today in Dandora reflect the true spirit of community football.”

Next Stop: Nyanza Region

With the Nairobi leg concluded, the SportPesa Cheza Dimba tournament now heads to the Nyanza Region, where Kisii Town will host the next edition as the competition continues to spotlight grassroots football talent across Kenya.
