Kenya Ports Authority Warns Public Against Fake Job Adverts

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has issued a public notice warning against the circulation of fake job advertisements being shared through social media platforms and unofficial websites, falsely claiming to offer employment opportunities at the Authority.

In a statement released on Monday, KPA said it had noted a growing number of scams using fake websites, social media pages, and fictitious email addresses to mislead job seekers into believing there are open recruitment opportunities at the Authority.

“We wish to clarify that currently there’s no recruitment exercise underway. In addition, KPA does not conduct recruitment through third-party websites, social media links, or informal channels,” the statement read.

Official Job Announcements Only on kpa.co.ke

KPA emphasized that all official job vacancies and recruitment notices are only published through its official websitewww.kpa.co.ke — and in recognized local daily newspapers.

The Authority urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal information or making any payments in response to these fraudulent adverts.

“The Authority wishes to caution the public to avoid engaging with these fraudulent schemes and to refrain from sharing personal information or making any payments in response to such advertisements,” KPA stated.

Public Advised to Stay Vigilant

The notice comes amid a rise in online recruitment scams targeting job seekers, where fraudsters often demand “registration fees” or “processing charges” in exchange for fake employment offers.

KPA warned that it will not be liable for any losses incurred as a result of interactions with such schemes and urged the public to verify all information directly through official channels before responding to any recruitment messages.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency in its recruitment processes and encouraged Kenyans to report suspicious activity related to fake job advertisements to law enforcement or through its official communication channels.

Protecting Job Seekers

Public sector institutions such as KPA have become frequent targets for impersonation by online fraudsters exploiting high unemployment levels in Kenya. Experts advise job seekers to double-check email domains, look for official reference numbers, and avoid any recruitment communications that require upfront payments.

KPA’s latest notice serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and rely solely on official announcements made on its verified platforms.
