The Government has intensified infrastructure development in Nakuru County, with the ongoing upgrade of three key road links totaling 25 kilometres, designed to enhance regional mobility, improve market access, and spur local economic growth.
The roads under construction include:
- Jogoo–Kiptangwanyi–Munanda–Tangi Tano Road
- Munanda–Kiambogo–Kongasis Road
- Tangi Tano Hospital Link Road
According to Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir, the upgraded network will significantly cut transport costs while improving connectivity for communities across Jogoo, Kiptangwanyi, Munanda, Kongasis, Kiambogo, and Tangi Tano.
“These upgraded roads will reduce transport costs, improve access to markets and services, and stimulate economic growth,” said Chirchir.
The 25-kilometre project, which traverses rolling terrain, will provide smoother and more efficient links between rural production zones and major trading centres. It is expected to benefit farmers, students, and healthcare users by improving access to schools, hospitals, and marketplaces.
Earlier today, President William Ruto toured the ongoing construction works in Kongasis, accompanied by CS Chirchir and local leaders, as part of an inspection of ongoing road upgrades under the national roads improvement programme.
The President’s visit underscores the government’s continued commitment to expanding the rural and peri-urban road network, aligning with the broader Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) that prioritises agricultural productivity and regional equity through infrastructure.
Once complete, the upgraded roads are expected to enhance trade flows within Nakuru County, reduce travel times, and improve logistics for agricultural produce heading to markets in Nakuru Town and beyond.
