Hazina Sacco

Hazina Sacco Society Ltd is a nationwide deposit-taking SACCO established in 1971 under the Co-operative Societies Act. With more than 34,000 members across Kenya, the SACCO provides savings, competitive dividends, affordable loans and full FOSA banking services. This guide explains who can join, contributions required, loan products, mobile loans, savings accounts, and step-by-step joining instructions.

Hazina Sacco is a regulated savings and credit co-operative offering members an opportunity to grow their deposits while accessing a wide range of loan and banking services. The SACCO serves members from government institutions, private organisations and independent commissions, making it one of Kenya’s most accessible co-operatives.


Membership Eligibility

The following groups can join Hazina Sacco:

  • Employees of county governments

  • Employees of private organisations

How to Join Hazina Sacco

To become a member:

  1. Fill in the membership application form and submit it via email or deliver a physical copy.
  2. Attach the following documents:
    • Copy of National ID
    • Passport-size photograph
    • Current payslip for check-off members
    • Registration fee of KES 1,000
  3. The application form is available for download on the SACCO’s website.

Member Contributions

  • Registration fee: KES 1,000 (one-off)
  • Share capital: KES 16,000 (increases by KES 1,000 annually from December 2024)
  • Monthly deposit: KES 1,000 or 5 percent of basic salary
  • Welfare contribution (Benevolent Fund): KES 200

Loan Eligibility

  • Check-off members qualify for a Jibu Loan after the first payroll contribution is remitted.
  • General members qualify for loans after four months of consistent contributions.
  • Members transferring 100 percent of their deposits from another SACCO qualify for loans immediately after their first deduction.
  • Loans are granted up to five times member deposits and up to six times for Super Loans.

  • Duly filled loan application form
  • Current payslip
  • Private members (non-check-off) must provide:
    • Six-month bank statement
    • Standing order for loan repayment
    • Guarantor consent form

Mobile Loans

Flash Advance Loan

  • Limit: 20 percent of deposits or KES 60,000 (lower of the two)
  • Repayment: 1, 2, 3 or 4 months
  • Interest charged once:
    • 1 month: 5 percent
    • 2 months: 6 percent
    • 3 months: 8 percent
    • 4 months: 10 percent
  • Members start at KES 10,000 and graduate through KES 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 up to 60,000

Mobi Loan

  • Limit: KES 60,000 or 300 percent of net pay (lower of the two)
  • Repayment: 1–6 months
  • Interest charged once:
    • 1 month: 8 percent
    • 2 months: 9 percent
    • 3 to 6 months: 10 percent
  • Available to members whose salary is processed through FOSA

Dividend Advance

  • Limit: 60 percent of previous year’s dividends
  • Recovered from dividends once paid
  • Interest: 10 percent charged once
  • Applied via mobile banking using *850# or the Hazina Sacco App
  • Amount processed is half the previous year’s dividends minus the 10 percent interest
