BrighterMonday Kenya has partnered with the County Government of Machakos to establish a Job Centre designed to support youth access to dignified employment through the Generation Kazi program. The Centre will focus on connecting job seekers with employers, offering career guidance and improving job placement outcomes for young people in Machakos.

The Job Centre will serve as the last mile point for talent matching, enabling employers to tap into a pool of pre-screened job seekers and providing support for entry-level roles across different sectors. It will prioritize unemployed youth aged between 18 and 35 years who are seeking both blue-collar and pink-collar opportunities.

Penina Kimani, Country Programme Lead at BrighterMonday Kenya, said the initiative will strengthen collaboration between stakeholders to unlock work opportunities. She noted that the Centre will facilitate linkages for women, graduates, interns and youth across the county to access suitable roles that can improve their economic well-being.

The partnership will also enhance BrighterMonday’s ongoing work with county departments, training institutions and community organizations as part of efforts to scale placement programs nationwide. Digital resources and tools will complement the offline services, while job placement data will feed into the broader Generation Kazi monitoring framework to guide future policy actions.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti emphasized that youth employment remains a top priority for the county. She said the initiative aligns with national development efforts aimed at accelerating economic growth and creating work opportunities for underserved communities. The county will provide physical infrastructure for the new Job Centre and ensure connectivity between employers and the local workforce.

As part of the initiative, the county will facilitate engagement with other state departments involved in youth empowerment to expand the reach of employment support services. The program aims to increase economic participation for women, men and persons with disabilities while improving the overall competitiveness of the region.

The Generation Kazi program currently focuses on upskilling and reskilling young people, targeting 70 percent women, 70 percent non-urban youth and 10 percent persons with disabilities. The expansion into Machakos strengthens its mission to provide sustainable job connections that can uplift communities across Kenya.
