The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Embassy in Kenya, and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), has commissioned Phase Two of modern interview facilities at its South Rift Regional Office in Nakuru.

The Nakuru office becomes the first regional branch to benefit from the upgrade, following a similar enhancement at EACC’s headquarters at Integrity Centre. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen investigative capacity and improve case management standards within the Commission.

Boosting Investigative Capacity

Speaking on behalf of EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud, Director of Field Services and Coordination Jackson Mue expressed appreciation to the Commission’s development partners for their continued support.

He particularly acknowledged the FBI’s role in capacity building, noting that enhanced training and upgraded interview facilities are expected to improve investigative procedures and overall case handling standards.

The modernized facilities are designed to support professional evidence collection processes, strengthen documentation standards, and ensure a conducive environment for conducting interviews.

Continued International Collaboration

FBI Legal AttachΓ© Harris Shandra, accompanied by Lynda Obi from the LEGAT office, commended the Commission’s commitment to executing its anti-corruption mandate.

She reaffirmed the FBI’s continued support for institutional strengthening initiatives aimed at combating corruption and enhancing investigative effectiveness.

The collaboration reflects ongoing cooperation between Kenyan authorities and international partners in strengthening governance and accountability frameworks.

Senior Officials in Attendance

Other senior EACC officials present at the commissioning included:

  • David Too, Director of Legal Services and Asset Recovery
  • Joel Mukumu, Director of Finance and Planning
  • Kipsang Sambai, Regional Manager, South Rift Region

Strengthening Anti-Corruption Infrastructure

The commissioning of Phase Two facilities signals continued investment in institutional infrastructure aimed at enhancing professionalism and operational efficiency within Kenya’s anti-corruption framework.

Improved investigative facilities, combined with capacity-building support from international partners, are expected to contribute to stronger evidence handling processes and more robust prosecution support in corruption-related cases.
