The Kenya National Highways Authority has announced temporary lane closures along a section of the A8 Road between Rironi and the James Gichuru Road Junction to facilitate surface dressing works.
According to the public notice, the phased closures will run from Friday, February 20, 2026, to Saturday, April 4, 2026, inclusive.
The affected stretch forms part of the key highway linking Nairobi to the western corridor and is expected to experience controlled traffic flow during the works.
Phased Works and Traffic Diversions
KeNHA stated that the roadworks will be implemented in phases. During the construction period:
- Traffic will be diverted to the remaining open lanes
- Service roads will be used where available
- Diversion routes will be clearly marked at each work zone
Motorists have been advised to follow designated diversions and cooperate with traffic police officers and marshals stationed along the corridor.
Safety Advisory to Motorists
Road users are urged to:
- Approach work zones with caution
- Observe traffic signage
- Adhere to instructions from on-site officers
The surface dressing works are aimed at improving road durability and driving conditions along the busy highway section.
