How PesaLink Works

PesaLink is designed to be user-friendly, whether you’re sending money to a phone number or directly to a bank account. Here’s how you can link your phone to PesaLink and start using it:

How to Link Your Phone on PesaLink:

  1. Choose your preferred banking channel, such as mobile app, USSD, ATM, internet banking, agency, or bank branch.
  2. Select the “PesaLink” option from the menu.
  3. Opt for “Link Your Phone.”
  4. Choose the account number you want to link.
  5. Confirm whether you’d like to designate this account as your primary payment account.
  6. Review the details displayed and confirm.
  7. You’ll receive an SMS notification confirming the successful linking of your phone.

How to Send Money Using PesaLink:

  • To a Phone Number:
    1. Select PesaLink from your bank’s menu.
    2. Choose “Send To Phone.”
    3. Enter the recipient’s phone number.
    4. Select the bank from the list of participating institutions.
    5. Enter the amount to transfer.
    6. Provide the reason for payment.
    7. Confirm the details displayed, including the recipient’s name, bank, and amount.
    8. You’ll receive an SMS notification confirming the transaction.
  • To a Bank Account:
    1. Select PesaLink from your bank’s menu.
    2. Choose “Send To Account.”
    3. Enter the recipient’s account number.
    4. Select the first letter of the recipient’s bank name from a list.
    5. Choose the bank name.
    6. Enter the amount to transfer.
    7. Provide the reason for payment.
    8. Confirm the transaction details.
    9. You will receive an SMS confirming the transfer, including the account number, bank, and amount.
