Meru University

Paying for educational services online has become easier in Kenya, thanks to the eCitizen platform. Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) students are now required to pay all fees through the eCitizen Paybill Number 222222, in line with a Presidential Directive. This guide walks you through the steps to seamlessly make payments for your tuition and other services using the eCitizen platform.

Why Use the eCitizen Platform for Payments?

The eCitizen platform is Kenya’s official digital gateway for all government services, including fee payments for public institutions. By using this platform, Meru University students benefit from:

  • Convenience: Pay from anywhere, at any time.
  • Security: Transactions are secure, with real-time tracking.
  • Centralized System: All payments are funneled through a single platform, reducing errors and miscommunication.

Step-by-Step Guide to Paying Fees via eCitizen

To help students navigate this new payment process, Meru University has provided the following steps to ensure smooth fee payments:

1. Log in to the Student Portal

Begin by logging in to your Meru University student portal at https://student.must.ac.ke/. Once logged in, you’ll be directed to your dashboard where all important services are listed.

2. Access the Fee Payment Section

From your dashboard:

  • Click on “Fee Payment.”
  • Under the Fee Payment section, select “Make Payment.”
  • You will then see a list of services you can pay for, such as Tuition Fees.

Once you select the service:

  • Enter the amount you wish to pay along with the KShs. 50 transaction fee charged by eCitizen. For instance, if your tuition fee is KShs. 950, you should enter KShs. 1000 (inclusive of the KShs. 50 convenience fee).Note: The KShs. 50 convenience fee is an eCitizen charge, not from Meru University.

After inputting the amount, click “Pay Now.” A unique Payment Reference Number will be generated, replacing your previous Admission Number as the payment identifier.

4. Select Your Preferred Payment Method

You have a variety of payment options to complete your transaction, including:

  • Mpesa
  • Airtel Money
  • Pesaflow Direct
  • Cash payments at KCB or Equity banks

For future convenience, new payment options like National Bank of Kenya and Cooperative Bank will be added to the platform.

5. Complete Your Payment

Once you select your payment method:

  • Follow the prompts provided to finalize the transaction.
  • If paying via Mpesa, simply enter the Paybill Number 222222 and the Payment Reference Number generated earlier.

For bank payments (KCB or Equity), visit your nearest branch and provide the teller with your Payment Reference Number.
